Lists

Use the list tool in the WYSIWYG toolbar to format lists. Screen readers announce lists and the number of items they contain, but only with the underlying code.

Sample List Using the WYSIWYG List Tool

  • Use informative and unique page titles.
  • Never underline or strikethrough
  • Keep text left aligned. Avoid center, right, or justified alignment, except where necessary.
  • Generally, avoid ALL CAPS (acronyms OK)
  • OK if used judiciously for emphasis: bold, italics

Sample List Set Manually Without Underlying Code.

Screen readers will not announce this as a list or indicate the number of items in it.

• Use numbered and bulleted lists generously

• Lists are easier to scan than paragraphs for a sighted and a blind person

• Use the list tool for properly coded lists
