Step 5: Plan for maintenance

A content strategy is a living document and should be continually reviewed to ensure that it’s current and relevant. Additionally, it’s important to establish a plan for maintenance, to guarantee that your strategy will be put into action.

React to new evidence

To ensure that your content remains current, continually:
  • Add or modify your understanding of audience needs
  • Update organization goals
  • Revise content and metrics
  • Unpublish content that doesn’t work

Hold yourself accountable

Establish an editorial calendar to:
  • Identify an editorial committee and assign roles/identify editors (publishers/owners) 
  • Plan for future content 
  • Gather all related information (images, links, etc.)
  • Identify other distribution channels for future content
